Ardex Group Germany was founded in 1949 in Witten, Germany, under the name Norwag-Werke GmbH Chemische Fabrik and was renamed as Ardex Chemie GmbH in the early 1950s.
Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Ardex expanded its European business, entering markets in Austria, France, the UK, and Scandinavia. The 1970s and 1980s saw further international expansion into the United States and Eastern & Southern Europe. During this period, Ardex launched K 15, a product that remains the industry benchmark in self-leveling compounds today.
The 1990s and 2000s marked significant growth for Ardex, with the company expanding its footprint in Europe and globally through joint ventures, acquisitions, and the establishment of new local businesses. Investments in new equipment and production sites allowed Ardex to extend its product portfolio, adding flooring adhesives and decorative surfaces to their offerings.
In the last decade, Ardex has focused on offering full system solutions to customers worldwide. This has resulted in investments in family companies with adjacent product offerings, significant portfolio extensions in the Americas, Asia, and New Zealand, and new production facilities in Turkey, Asia, the US, and Australia.
Today, Ardex is a leading manufacturer of special materials for the building trade, with its global headquarters still based in Witten, Germany. The company operates as an independent family-owned business and is represented in more than 100 countries through 55 subsidiaries and 44 production facilities. Ardex continues to innovate and grow, maintaining its commitment to quality, service, and sustainability.
Score Tech Mortars Co., Ltd. was established in 1999. The company quickly grew to become a leading manufacturer of construction chemicals for the Hong Kong and Macau markets, specializing in dry mix mortar products for public housing, government buildings, and infrastructure sectors. Over the years, Score Tech expanded its product portfolio to include plasters and renders, tile adhesives, non-shrink grouts, early strength pre-batched concrete, lightweight mortars, and a series of sustainable products.
In 2023, Ardex Group Germany acquired Score Tech Mortars Co., Ltd. This acquisition was a strategic move to strengthen Ardex’s market position in Hong Kong and Macau. The acquisition was seen as a perfect complement to Ardex’s existing activities in the region, given the minimal overlap in product portfolios and sales channels. The acquisition allowed Score Tech Mortars to benefit from Ardex’s wide product range and advanced technology, enhancing its competitive power and enabling it to provide comprehensive product supplies and services to its customers.
Following the acquisition, Score Tech Mortars Co., Ltd. was merged with Ardex Hong Kong Limited to form Ardex Scoretech Co., Ltd in July 2024. This merger aimed to consolidate the strengths of both companies, leveraging their combined expertise and resources to better serve the construction industry in Hong Kong, Macau and other cities in the Greater Bay Area.
